Yes you CAN!!!

I recently learned how to crochet and I realized that I needed a good project to get my feet wet and keep me motivated. My hubby and I lead a Sunday school class for ages 2-5 every other sunday. I noticed that their play food was looking a bit worn out so I thought I would try and make them a few more. Little did I know there are TONS of free food patterns online. I have been having so much fun making all this stuff.

I couldn't find a pattern for any canned food so I decided to make my own. Keep in mind this is the first pattern I have ever created so its not prefect but I love the way they turned out.

Pass it On

I need to apologize, I didn't get my pinterest project up in time. I left my camera at my lovely mother in law's house and totally forgot about the project until the last second. I will try and get it up here by next week.

In other news my friend, Jessica and I went to the "Pass It On Sale" yesterday. I came home with a bunch of great loot! I spent about 85 bucks and came away with a super cute swim suit for our little girl, four cloth diapers and 14 inserts. I also bought two pillows, one is a boppy breastfeeding pillow (I already had the cover) and one is a giant pregnancy pillow. Also I found some clothes for me.

For anyone who has never been to a "Pass It On Sale" it's great. It's kind of like a huge yard sale for kids stuff, ages birth to 16 month ish. Moms from around the area bring in their gently used items and sell them at a huge discount. The sale is still on until this Sunday, if you miss it there is another similar sale called "Just Between Friends" sale in Portland this April.

I love this suit, I think the hearts are adorable. Unfortunately our little girl wont fit it for awhile, but I can't wait to take her swimming in it .

I tried to pick some gender neutral colors for the cloth diapers because we hope to reuse them for our future  little ones.  The pink one is Bumgenius, the others are a brand I have never heard of. I have high hopes for them.

These are the tags on the red, green, and yellow diapers. They are made by Baby City and Baby Land. From what I have read about them, they are made by the same manufacturer under different names, and everyone seems to like them.
I got this Boppy pillow for FIVE bucks. I'm so excited to try it out, and I love the little bees. I have this cover and I really like it.

Anyway, I had a great time and I will totally be going back in the years to come. Also the pregnancy pillow I bought is awesome. It was 13 dollars and is made by LeachCo. Online it said that you shouldn't wash them, but I did not want to sleep on someone else's unwashed pillow (call me crazy). So I gave it a go. I used cold water, detergent, color safe bleach, and the "hand washables" setting. Then I dried it on the "delicate" setting. It came out great. There are no stains or anything! AND it smells great now. I used it last night and it might just be my new best pillow friend.

Anyone else find some great deals recently ?

Pinterest challenge.

I like many of the bloggers out there have a little pinterest addiction. What can I say, I love to pin. For those of you who haven't been introduced to Pinterest yet its an online site where you can "pin" or save ideas you have seen on the interwebs and liked onto boards. Its like the new and improved version of the old binder stuffed with photos of things we like. You can pin anything you like on to your personal boards and follow people who like the same thing so you can get more ideas.

So the Authors of my 2 favorite blogs YHL and Bower power are hosting:

It something they try and do every season. Its a challenge to ourselves to make one of the things we have "pined" on Pinterest it's not endorsed by Pinterest or anything, it's more of a self imposed challenge to get yourself doing more and pinning less.

The rules are simply that you take one or more of the ideas that you pinned and do your own rendition of it while linking back to the original source. All of the projects are "due" on Wednesday and Im so excited to get going.  I'm not really sure what I'm going to make yet but here are some of my ideas.

I'm really loving the idea of up-cycling some old books an having some fun with flowers.... we will see.

Oh an all the originals can be found in order Here , here , here , Here , here , Here and last but not least here.

The First Post

I feel lIke first blog posts are akward. It's like I have this crazy desire to tell you my whole unabridged life story the first day you meet me. I have been wanting to start a blog for awhile now. Mostly because our family is spread out and I think this will be a fun easy way to keep up. Secondly because I spend a lot of time reading other people’s blogs and I am inspired. Plus I know how fun it can be to hear someone else story first hand. So with all that said, I am just going to drop you right in the middle of my story. :D

My hubby and I are
expecting our first baby, a little girl. I am 29 weeks along and SOOOOO excited about having a little one to share our world with.
Im currently working on a few projects to spice up her space a little bit. For those of you who know me already, you know that I am not a pink person. It's just not my "go to color", but for some reason I was totally drawn to these colors for our little one's dresser. A dresser which my lovely mother-in-law gave us, and we are just fancying it up a bit. Our little girl's dresser started out brown and we decided to spray paint it. There are tons of great spray painting tutorials online, but I will just say for ours, I just wiped it down really well and primed it. No sanding necessary.

So, I purchased these two colors (winter grey and berry pink by rust-oleum) and a can of primer (also made by rust-oleum) This is what we have now. My apologies for the bad "before photos" Im still getting used to my new camera.

So our dresser went from the brown above to primer white.

To a lovely pink and grey.

I have a few more sprucing up ideas, but you will just have to see those as they come :D.

What have you been up to lately? I would love to see any projects or hear any ideas for enhancing my own. Bye for now!
